Helping Our Economy
Creating growth and opportunity in BC’s new bio-economy
Independent economic analysis undertaken by MMK Consulting in 2013 indicates that BC Bioenergy Network has made a positive contribution to British Columbia’s economy since its creation in 2008:
“$16.6 million of BCBN project funding has leveraged new investments for a total project value of $123.5 million, which represents 1,826- person years of employment, $106 million in GDP and $19.75 million in new tax revenues for government.”
In broader terms, BCBN projects are helping to:
- Diversify the economy;
- Create green jobs;
- Keep energy dollars in the community;
- Leverage new trade and investment opportunities; and
- Enhance our unused and undervalued bio-resources
Continuing to utilize BC’s local biomass resources will help diversify the economy, train workers and keep energy dollars in our communities.
