CHAR Technologies announced that engineering and design work is advancing on its proposed biocarbon project in Espanola, Ontario, with a CA$10 million commitment from The BMI Group. The project would be located at the former pulp and paper mill site at Bioveld North and is expected to produce up to 50,000 tonnes of biocarbon annually using locally sourced wood waste and forestry residuals. The facility would also generate synthetic gas, with future potential for renewable natural gas production. The engineering and design study is expected to be completed in Q1 2026 and will inform the project’s final scope and capital allocation.
