We invite you to register for our brief online celebration ceremony, where we will announce this year’s recipients. As every year, you can look forward to a musical surprise and a short trivia quiz. Join us in celebrating the outstanding contributions of the people in the bioenergy sector. We hope to see you there!

BCBN is now accepting nominations for the 2024 BC Bioenergy Sector Awards.
The deadline for nominations is expected to be at the end of September 2024.
The online awards ceremony will take place on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at 10 AM PDT.
Are self-nominations accepted?
No, all nominees need to be nominated by a third party.
Is it possible to nominate someone in more than one category?
Yes, a nomination form must be completed for each category.
How are the award criteria weighted?
The award criteria are weighted evenly, and judges reserve the right to validate and quantify the impact.
Is the awards event virtual or in-person?
The event is held virtually.
When will the winners be notified?
Winners are notified in early October and asked to give a short presentation at the online awards ceremony.
What is the award?
Each award recipient receives a framed certificate, prize, and acknowledgement through our social media.

BC Bioenergy Sector Awards 2023
On Friday, October 20th, 2023, BC Bioenergy Network announced three recipients of the 2023 BC Bioenergy Sector Award during the virtual ceremony. This was the third annual celebration of the BC Bioenergy Sector Awards. The awards were presented for outstanding leadership and contribution to the bioeconomy sector in British Columbia.
The one-hour virtual event was opened by our very own Scott Stanners (Executive Director at BC Bioenergy Network) and inspired by comments from last year’s winners: Xiaotao Tony Bi (UBC Clean Energy Research Centre), Robert Pinchuk (Parkland Corporation) and Dave Schick (Canadian Fuels Association). After the presentation of the awards, the recipients shared an acknowledgment speech on the topic of bioenergy. Ralohn Hunt (BC Bioenergy Network) hosted a refreshing Trivia Quiz, and surprise Special Guest Ashley Callister (CICE) delivered an extraordinary bioenergy-themed musical performance.

BC Bioenergy Sector Awards 2022
On Thursday, October 20th, 2022, BC Bioenergy Network announced three recipients of the 2022 BC Bioenergy Sector Award during the virtual ceremony. This was the second annual celebration of the BC Bioenergy Sector Awards, the awards were presented for outstanding leadership and contribution to the bioeconomy sector in British Columbia.
The one-hour virtual event was opened by our very own Scott Stanners (Executive Director at BC Bioenergy Network) and inspired by comments from last year’s winners: Jack Saddler (UBC), Dave Bennett (FortisBC), and Michael Rensing (BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation). Paul Austin (Fort Capital Partners and Director of BC Bioenergy Network) presented the awards to the 2022 winners, who each shared an acknowledgment speech on the topic of bioenergy. Petra Srutkova (BC Bioenergy Network) hosted a refreshing Trivia Quiz, and surprise Special Guest Ashley Callister (CICE) delivered an extraordinary bioenergy-themed musical performance.

BC Bioenergy Sector Awards 2021
On October 20th, 2021, stakeholders across Canada and the US celebrated National Bioenergy Day. BCBN announced the winners of the Inaugural BC Bioenergy Sector Awards which recognized bioenergy sector builders; persons whose leadership and contributions have been outstanding.

In addition to hearing from the winners of the inaugural BC Bioenergy Sector awards, the online event featured comments from Special Guests including: Doug Hooper, Director, Policy and Regulations, at Advanced Biofuels Canada; David Schick, Vice President of Canadian Fuels Association, Western Division, and Don Roberts, Chair of the Board at Arbios Biotech; plus a surprise musical performance from Special Guest Pat Guidera, Director, Forest Technologies at Alberta Innovates Bio.
