ECCC released updated CFR material. Key updates include:

  • Updated Training and Overview: The presentation on Specifications and training materials for CI calculations for bioethanol and biodiesel have been revised and posted on the CFR Google Drive.
  • Updated CI Examples: Illustrations of changes to the Specifications for Fuel LCA Model CI Calculations and CFR Data Workbook are now available, with more examples set to release in fall and winter 2024.
  • Latest Model Version: The “Main changes made to the Fuel Life Cycle Assessment Model in June 2024” document detailed changes since January 2023. Users must install openLCA version 2.0 or higher to use this updated Model.
  • Verification Reminder: From July 1, 2024, all CI applications must use the most recent Specifications and be verified by an accredited body.

An addendum was published to modify section A2.5.3.6.2 of the Specifications for biogas or renewable natural gas pathways. This change guides modelling direct emissions without altering other sections.
