ECCC approved Legislative Recognition for forestry feedstock harvested from private forest lands in Quebec under the CFR – Land Use and Biodiversity Criteria. Criteria include forest regeneration, biodiversity, soil and groundwater quality, and naturally regenerated stands.
This complements prior approvals for Wildlife Habitat Criteria, Damaging Agents Criteria, and Watercourse Connectivity.
These approvals signify that forestry feedstock harvested from private forest lands in the province of Quebec will receive full Legislative Recognition for these criteria under the Clean Fuel Regulations. This is in addition to Legislative Recognition for forestry feedstock harvested from Crown Forest lands in the province of Quebec, approved in June 2025.
