Fuel LCA Model – New Pre-publications and Pathways Available for Comment

Environment and Climate Change (ECCC) Canada pre-published proposed updates to the Fuel Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Model ahead of the next official release in Fall 2026. Stakeholders are invited to review and submit comments by April 21st, 2025. The pre-publication includes new and updated processes for non-fertilizer-related chemicals. Predefined fuel pathways, tools developed by ECCC to allow users to conduct LCA for fuels and energy sources used or produced in Canada without requiring facility-specific data, were released for biodiesel, bioethanol, and renewable natural gas. Your feedback on publications is requested via modeleacvcarburant-fuellcamodel@ec.gc.ca.
