Proposed U.S. Legislation Aims to Power Electric Cars with Renewable Electricity from Forest Byproducts

Legislation aimed at promoting the use of renewable electricity from forest byproducts, such as woodchips and sawdust, to charge electric vehicles has been introduced in the United States. The “Biomass for Transportation Fuel Act” (H.R.7609) seeks to enable facilities that generate renewable electricity from forest biomass to participate in the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program.
