Alberta Invests in Carbon-Negative Hydrogen from Forestry Waste

Emissions Reduction Alberta is investing $3 million to support Hydrogen Naturally’s innovative project that converts forestry waste and wildfire-damaged wood into hydrogen fuel. The process captures and sequesters carbon emissions underground, resulting in carbon-negative hydrogen. This hydrogen will be blended with natural gas to produce carbon-neutral energy. The project aims to co-locate with existing industrial facilities, enhancing efficiency and reducing transportation needs. Funding is sourced from Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Regulation.
