Alder Renewables and Bioenergie AE Cote-Nord have announced Project Avance, a partnership to produce SAF from forest waste in Port-Cartier, Quebec. Using Alder’s proprietary technology, the project will convert bio-oil from an existing plant into Alder Renewable Crude, which will then be refined into SAF and other low-carbon fuels.
Production is set to begin in 2027, with the potential to reduce emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Project Avance supports Canada’s Aviation Action Plan and aims to help reach the goal of producing 1 billion litres of SAF by 2030.
